Studies Show That Less Than 3% Of Homosexuals Are Truly Monogamous

I was doing some quick research before posting my last comment which mentioned (briefly) the physical dangers of the homosexual lifestyle. I’ve heard these numbers before in passing but they are worth sharing here for a few reasons. First, it is pertinent to the past few blogs relating to Prop 8 being overturned by Gay Judge Vaughn Walker. Second, this data has relevant apologetic value for combating the media’s (and many pro-gay advocate’s) portrayal of the need for same-sex marriage.

The quote below is part of a pdf which goes into some pretty ugly statistics about the less told side of homosexual sex. There is a lot about the physical damage and the bacteria, viruses, STDs, etc (79 footnotes in 14 pages, not bad).  This snippet below focuses on the number of sexual partners that homosexuals typically have. To break it down, if you have 33 homosexual friends who have been gay/lesbian for awhile, statistically speaking only one of them has been monogamous (with one partner). 7 of those 33 will have between 100 to 500 sexual partners in their lifetime. Update to Judge Vaughn Walker’s Ruling over Prop 8

I didn’t know this when I wrote about it on Thursday, but Vaughn R. Walker is openly gay (maybe this is proof that I’m not looking for ammo, cause I would have mentioned that). Think about this: The most costly campaign on either side over a state proposition, EVER. After all of the drama over Prop 22 being overturned, Prop 8 being voted in by the majority of California voters, and now an openly gay judge gets the case?  Can anyone say bias? He personally has something to gain by overturning Proposition 8.

Conversation Stopper #1: Call them a “Hater”

When holding a discussion with someone of another faith (or even an atheist or another Christian) you may come across a sensitive issue that is hard to discuss without evoking an emotional response. This might be illustrated by Ergun Caner’s recent lecture in San Diego, CA where he identified the individuals who were pointing out his past and present lies as “haters.” As a California resident I got an earful from the pro-gay/pro-lesbian folks, telling me that I hate them for voting against (and blogging against) same-sex Marriage.

This technique is sometimes used when you are explaining the gospel to an unbeliever and they mistakenly conclude that you hate X (whether it is Mormons, Muslims, JW’s, Buddhists, etc) because you believe that their theology is wrong and you had the audacity to try to help them believe what is right. Rather than hear you out and weigh the merits of your case they try to put the brakes on the conversation (and excuse themselves from critical thought) by saying you are motivated by hate.

The ironic thing about this stopper is that you can’t disprove it to their satisfaction. Since they are attributing the worst motives to you for other reasons than actual observation of factors which normally indicate emotions (facial expression, volume, tone of voice, vocabulary, personality, etc) they will twist your words to keep accusing you. Take the following conversation as a model:

Christian: I believe that California should not endorse same-sex marriages for these reasons (X, Y, and Z)

Atheist: Are you serious?

Christian: Yes.

Atheist: You just a homophobe! You probably voted “yes” on Prop hate.

Christian: Prop hate?

Atheist: Yeah, aren’t you supposed to be loving as a Christian? Why do you hate gays and lesbians? Why would you deny them the right to marry?

Christian: I don’t hate them. I just gave you my reasons (X, Y, and Z) for opposing same-sex marriages. None of them involve me hating anybody! I love them and want the best for them, but I disagree with same-sex marriage.

Atheist: No, it’s pretty clear you hate them. Look how you are arguing with me.

This is not a verbatim conversation. It is an outline of many conversations which Christians have had since 2008. There may have been different words, but the basics are always present: the reasons for opposing same-sex marriage are offered and ignored, hatred is attributed to the Christian as the sole/major reason for opposing same-sex marriage, the conversation dies.

Ergun Caner attributes hatred to people like James White and Turr8tin fan in a similar fashion. They listen to his old sermons and point out contradictions in his testimony. He could deal with them on that level, answering their claims, apologizing/repenting, etc. But instead of that he just calls them “haters” and excuses himself from the conversation. Think about it. Does calling someone a name or making up a false motive for them actually answer their argument? Clearly it doesn’t, all it does it shifts the focus from the issue at hand to the person bringing up the issue. And 99% of the time they are not motivated by hate.

But think about this. If you have ever called someone a “hater,” what if they actually hated whatever you were discussing. Is it logically impossible for someone who hates gay people to offer a good argument against same-sex marriage? Let me put it another way: Is it logically impossible for someone who hates math to offer a valid geometric proof? Same question, different object.

I mean, do you seriously tell a high school student who hates math, but studies hard anyways that he fails his test without even looking to see what he wrote down? If you don’t but you can still dismiss an argument from someone who may or may not legitimately hate homosexuals then you are inconsistent.

The principle here is simple: judge an argument by the merits of the argument itself, not the emotions (perceived or actual) of the person offering the argument.

California Prop 8 In Danger

This morning is cloudy as I write, and how appropriate it is that the sun is not shining. Yesterday a very dark thing happened in California. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker from (surprise surprise) San Francisco overturned Proposition 8.

Prop 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license…Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same-sex couples.

Didn’t We Vote For This… TWICE?

In 2000 I had just turned 18 and in my first election I proudly (and biblically) voted yes for this short sentence to be added to the Family Code: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Proposition 22 only stated as law what the vast majority of Americans have held to be true in the past, marriage is a union between two things, and those things are a man and a woman. That was overturned, despite the will of the voters. For 8 years we enjoyed a statute which defined marriage biologically and biblically.

When  the courts overturned Prop 22 California voted for an amendment to the California Constitution to the same effect. I know we aren’t supposed to quote Wikipedia, but this is a safe one:

Proposition 8 was a California ballot proposition that sought to change the California Constitution to add a new section (7.5) to Article I, that would read: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

This time it was more than a statute, it was an amendment to the very constitution which was used to overturn Prop 22. A statute can be overturned if it is found to be inconsistent with the state constitution. This point is good, by the way. As a Christian and as an American I want my laws to be consistent with one another. Laws can not be enforced fairly if they contradict one another. With Prop 8 now adding a familiar phrase to the California Constitution the voters had spoken again. They told us that a biblical/common sense definition of marriage was unconstitutional, so we changed the constitution. Continue reading

Student Told To Deny Christianity Or Face Expulsion

Via World Net Daily:

24 year old Jen Keeton was told by Richard Deaner, Paulette Schenck, and Mary Jane Anderson-Wiley (pictured right) of Augusta State University that she must deny her Christian beliefs about homosexuality and attend a Gay Pride parade in order to remain a student at their institution.

From the article:

University “faculty have promised to expel Miss Keeton from the graduate Counselor Education program, not because of poor academic showing or demonstrated deficiencies in clinical performance, but simply because she has communicated both inside and outside the classroom that she holds to Christian ethical convictions on matters of human sexuality and gender identity,” the law firm explained.

School spokeswoman Kathy Schose today declined to address the allegations in the case but agreed to discuss the counselor teaching program in general.

She cited the American Counseling Association’s code of ethics and said students would be required to adopt its provisions.

“There is a code of ethics that govern counselors,” she said. “They have to abide by the code of the profession.”

Ethics codes generally govern behavior, and Schose denied the school was attempting to alter any student’s beliefs or moral values.

But the lawsuit specifically charges the faculty members targeted Keeton’s biblically based belief system and values, not her behavior regarding the treatment of any clients, which had not yet happened.

Jen Keeton (pictured left) will become another victim of a pro-homosexual agenda that has been spreading for many years if they lose in court. Notice the unwillingness of Deaner, Schenck, and Anderson-Wiley to even consider the possibility that Keeton’s biblical beliefs are correct. They come to their conclusion and graduation from their counseling program is not withheld for not doing the work, rather, it is withheld for not agreeing with them on an issue which is closed for discussion.

A few more updates…

I just cashed in the 50 dollar Facebook advertising credit from GoDaddy, hopefully it will bring more people here. I added a few lists of bible verses to the main site: Homosexuality and Melchizedek (no, they aren’t immediately related). Those come in handy when you just want raw information, I hope to add more lists of verses and other information which might be useful (feel free to drop suggestions in the comment box below).

Jennifer Knapp on Homosexuality

It is always a disappointment when a public figure goes against their morals, cheats, lies, steals. It is worse when they get away with it like it never happened. Jennifer Knapp has come out of the closet and (for those biblically minded) has gone against her morals. On Christianity Today’s website she was interviewed by Mark Moring. Mark asked her about what the scriptures have to say on the topic of homosexuality, her answer is quoted below. Read it and ask yourself what mindset must she be in to interpret the Bible the way she does. Moring asks:

What about what Scripture says on the topic? Continue reading
