  • 9 AM How the Gospel Should Shape Your Web Strategy—Not Just Your Web Content
Matt Perman
The first principle for an effective web strategy is: create excellent content and make your site usable. You want users to think hard about your content—not about how to use your site. But usability doesn’t only make your site better and more effective. It is also important for biblical reasons because it is a way of serving your users and demonstrating the gospel that we exist to proclaim.
In other words, the gospel has something to say about how you do your website. Not just what content you put on your site, but what your overall web strategy is. That’s what we’re going to talk about in this session. We will look at how the gospel should shape our web strategies and how we have sought to do this so far at Desiring God. This will take us on a tour of the biblical and strategic reasons for making your website usable, five simple usability principles that are at the center of every easy-to-use website, the four principles that matter almost as much as usability, and more.
As a bonus, bring your most difficult and challenging questions on web strategy. We’ll spend the last part of the session talking about them. Production Center: Studio A
  • 11 AM The Virtualization of Culture (20/40)
John Dyer
People don’t just make things, they make things and then assign to them meaning. We derive values and a sense of identity from the architecture of our churches, the shape of our dining table, the location of our favorite coffee shop, and even the phones in our pocket. But what happens when we move all this meaning making online? Where does the meaning go? Business 220
  • 11 AM Real Presences: A Theology of Being There for the 21st Century (20/40)
Matt Anderson
Whether through the Holy Spirit or holograms, the notion of “presence” is rapidly expanding. But this expansion also presents real spiritual and theological challenges that the church in the 21st century needs to address. What happens to our bodies when we don’t need them to be present? How can we stay connected online and still present at home? Business 206
  • 11 AM More Than A Profile: Social Media Strategy (Hands on Tutorial)
Scott McClellan
This session will explore the difference between a social media presence and a social media strategy. Creating a Twitter or Facebook account is free, but establishing dialogue, connections, and trust through social media comes with a price. We’ll discuss the values, methods, and measurables of social media success. Business 209 (Computer Lab)
  • 11 AM Free Apps and Resources For Your Ministry (Hands on Tutorial)
Brandon Donaldson
This detail will discuss how LifeChurch.tv’s focus on fulfilling their vision became an opportunity to help resource the big “C” church. We will discuss the many free apps and resources available to you, your church, and your ministry from free kids curriculum, to capturing and reporting church metrics, to helping your church engage in God’s Word. Business 201 (Computer Lab)
12:15 – 2 PM Lunch (Provided for free)
  • 2 PM The New Morality: How Facebook Will Change Everything

Apologetics Press

The inspired apostle Peter wrote that Christians are commanded to always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks them a reason for the hope that is within them (1 Peter 3:15). Apologetics Press was founded in order to equip New Testament Christians to defend their faith by providing scripturally sound, scientifically accurate answers to todays most pressing questions about science, creation, evolution, culture, and the Bible.
