Eye On Apologetics is my (Glenn Hendrickson) online apologetic ministry. Since I am the exclusive creator of content on this site I must decide what to blog/write about and what not to. I consider a few things as I formulate this rationale:
- My audience
- My goal
- My topics
- My interests
My Audience
My audience is online and composed of many different people (age, gender, ethnicity, etc) from all over the world. Google Analytics tells me that most people find my site through Google searches (which means they are already interested in reading about some topic I have blogged about). Second to that is traffic from social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc) where people who are interested in apologetics and theology have already ‘liked’ or ‘followed’ me.
Broadly speaking, this website attracts individuals who are already curious, already interested in what I’ve said in a post.
My Goal
The goal of Eye On Apologetics is to promote Christian apologetics, theology, and evangelism. By steeping yourself in the first two you will become better prepared for the third. Of course as time goes on it is the goal to have written material which might be used in the course of evangelism.
My understanding of apologetics determines what I can post about here (as opposed to my personal blog or my facebook wall). I believe that the apologetic enterprise is a defense of the biblical worldview rather than a selective list of key doctrines. On top of that, I believe that a person’s theology effects the way they do apologetics.
My Topics
This brings me to the topics I decide to post about. Since visitors generally show up from a Google search or from the EOA facebook page, it stands to reason that they do not check here on their own just to see what I’m saying. And since apologetics is the defense of the biblical worldview as a whole, I have the freedom to post on a wide variety of topics. This list below is by no means comprehensive:
- Articles defending or explaining any aspect of the Christian worldview
- Exegetical observations from my personal study
- Polemical articles against cults, false religions, atheism, etc…
- Helpful (or interesting, noteworthy) resources on other sites
- Upcoming events (debates, conferences, radio shows, etc)
- Videos, mp3s or other media related to anything above
My Interests
It makes sense, then, that I would blog about these things because I am truthfully already interested in them! I frequently use Logos Bible Software and will mention them from time to time (and no, they do not pay me anything to do this, I am convicted that their software is second to none and is indispensable for apologetic and theological study). I have studied cults and world religions so those topics will be addressed. Presuppositional Apologetics and Reformed Theology hold a special place in my heart, but I will link to media and events from theologians and apologists who are neither (remember, this site is not my personal statement of doctrine. ALWAYS use godly, biblical discretion.).
